Samsung Galaxy Tab S Design wise the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is to a great extent similar to the Samsung Galaxy line of tablets. But yet the tab S8.4 looks classier. This classy look oozes because the earlier chrome bezel in the edge has got replaced by a more subtle band. The 8.4 is available in Titanium Bronze, which is in a way a dark shade of gold color. Moreover, it is available in Dazzling White. The tab is stunningly thin and also very light, in fact effortlessly light as this 8.38 inch large device weighs only 10.3 ounces.

The back side of the tab has a stipple effect texture over the soft-touch plastic. It is appreciable that even in this slim device, Samsung has managed to include a microSD card slot.

Galaxy tablet DisplayThe display of this Galaxy tablet is perhaps the main reason for which you would prefer buying it. It has an 8.4 inch screen with 2,560-by-1,600 panels like that of Amazon Fire HDX 8.9. But the screen type is Super AMOLED HD, which is a different technology altogether. The display has a great LCD screen, which is properly laminated to reduce the reflectivity and support better images. Moreover, the screen offers stunning outdoor visibility.

The best thing is that even after being so colorful and strong display; the screen doesn’t gulp power rather it sips power. On top of that this Galaxy Tab S has 4,900mAh battery, thus the user can expect terrific battery life. During the lab test, Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 pull to more than 11 hours of video playback, even when the screen was set to maximum brightness and Wi-Fi enabled. This battery performance is indeed way better than any recently launched tablets by Amazon, Apple, or Google.

The Tab S comes with a customized Samsung processor. It is an “octo-core” Exynos processor with four 1.3GHz cores and four 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores. The processor has a speed of 1.9 GHz. As per the benchmarking standard, this processor is comparable with the latest chips like the Nvidia Tegra K1 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805. If compared with the Apple iPad mini line, then its productivity is at par with iPad mini, but it falls short on GPU performance.

GPU performance is the main concern with Galaxy Tab S. This Samsung tablet has low graphics frame rates, which make the screen transitions a little sticky. Thus, you can’t rely on this device for high-end gaming.

The tablet has 16GB of storage; however, only 11.5GB is for user usage, which is fair enough to support speedy media. As microSD is here, so you can upgrade the storage as per your need.

The tab has Android 4.4 KitKat OS on board and thus you get the best of Android here. Moreover, the tab comes with some mandatory pre-loads such as Samsung’s redundant music player, Samsung’s video player, Paper Garden, an e-magazine and Samsung own app store.

Galaxy tablet S 8.4 has 8-megapixel main camera and its front camera is 1-megapixel. Both the cameras are at par with its pixel power. In fact, the front camera clicks pictures at a much better quality as compared to many other tablet cameras. Even the outdoor shots were sharp and quite satisfactory. The LED flash is very bright and can light up a dark room. With no troubles, both cameras achieve the 1080p video at 30fps outdoors or indoors.

Multimedia, especially Video playback is the specialty of the Galaxy Tab S. Without any difficulty, the tablet plays DivX or H.264, Xvid content. For e-reading and digital comics also, the Tab 8.4 is of perfect size. In fact, the tablet comes with three-month Marvel Unlimited subscription. Not just Marvel comics, even ComiXology comics look gorgeous on the bright and 8.4 size screen of Galaxy S 8.4.

The tab is a good companion to enjoy some loud music as its dual stereo speakers easily fill a room, although there is no bass basically. The performance of headphones and Bluetooth speakers are also satisfactory.
